The fight against the Way, the Truth and the Life (Part 1)
When our Lord Jesus Christ came to this earth, His goal was to restore the relationship between men and God. The relationship between Father God and His children. By His ultimate sacrifice, He enabled this for all of us, through faith. We were made to worship our God in spirit and in truth. Not just by singing a few songs, but by living a lifestyle of worship in spirit and in truth. That means that our actions match up with the things we sing and proclaim. It is not the condition we start with, but it is where we are supposed to grow to. It means we will become more and more like Jesus. The more we grow to spiritual maturity, the more authority and anointing we receive. That authority and anointing enables Gods children to do the works that Jesus did and to continue His work on this earth, until the day He is coming back for us.
When we look at the ministry of Jesus, we see that the very first thing He did was a call to repentance. Why did He do that? Because the Kingdom of God had come near them. That Kingdom of God came to them in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ, the King Himself. And where the King appears, the Light of God appears as well. No darkness can remain hidden in the Light of our God. So it is safe to say that the Kingdom of God is a direct threat to satan, his fallen angels and his demons. Everywhere where Jesus appears, they are exposed and being dealt with, because Jesus is the Way, the Truth and the Life.
THE WAY
Every way leads to something. There never was a way created to nowhere. Many assume that Jesus meant that He is the way to heaven, but that isn’t true. It is much bigger then that. Jesus Christ is the way to God the Father. And that means that He alone enabled a very personal and intimate relationship between the Father and you (John 4:23,24). It is from that relationship, through worship, that the anointing starts to flow. It is also why He said “No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). How true is that. When you take “the way” away, there is no way to get close to the Father. So everything starts and ends with Jesus (Rev. 1:8).
THE TRUTH
The truth is not a statement, it is a Person. That Person is Jesus Christ (John 14:6, John 1:1-5). The truth stands for the word of God. Where can we find the word of God? In the Bible and in Jesus (through the Holy Spirit). For it is written that the word was with God and the word was God. Those are the two possibilities to get to know God and grow to spiritual maturity. The degree to which we love the word of God, is the degree to which we love God. So spending time reading His word and listening to His voice, are both essential in the life of a Christian.
THE LIFE
When we start to use the Way and the Truth, the Life will start to grow in us. That has everything to do with repentance. We need to surrender every area of our life and also repent on every area of our life. I know, it’s not a popular message these days, but it is what is needed, otherwise Jesus wouldn’t have said it. It is really very simple. Where sin is can’t be life. Sin equals death. Why? Because the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). But when we stay in Jesus, when we follow the Way (= relationship and worship) and use the Truth (= listening to His voice and reading His word), then He (Jesus) will change us from the inside and gives us the power to change.
At the moment you gave your life to Jesus, He started to come live in you. That means that the Kingdom of God lives in you, because the King Himself lives in you. It also means that from that moment on, satan considers you a danger to him and his kingdom. Satan hates the Light of God, he hates holiness, he hates humility, he hates anointing and he hates the life of Christ in us. Therefore, he makes us his target to fight against his danger.
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:12
Since all those things are a danger to satan and his kingdom, he assigned several evil spirits to prevent Christians from following the Way, hearing or reading the Truth and from living the Life. But satan’s biggest threat is the Father. So the first thing he wants to do is to block the Way to the Father. Having an intimate relationship with the Father, means He can talk to us, tell us the truth, give us His anointing and give us insight in the spiritual world. All the things that satan hates and considers a danger. Two of the evil spirits that satan assigned to this task are the spirit of Jezebel and the spirit of Ahab.
The spirits of Jezebel and Ahab have the specific task to infiltrate in the lives of Christians and to destroy the relationship with the Father and to kill the anointing and the Fire of the Holy Spirit. Their first and main targets are the leaders that are appointed by God, which are (many) Church leaders, pastors, apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers and husbands/fathers (as the head of their families). Unfortunately they are doing a very successful job in the Churches of today. Here in The Netherlands, it were the spirits of Jezebel and Ahab who caused the great revival to be destroyed in the 18th century. They also caused it to stay that way until this present day.
